BASAL BODY TEMPERATURE TEST

Your body temperature reflects your metabolic rate so when it is low it is an indication that your metabolism is also low.

  1. Set the thermometer by your bedside ready for use when you wake up.

  2. When you wake (and before you get up and start moving about) up place the thermometer under your arm pit for a full 10 minutes.  Lie in bed and rest whilst you do this.

  3. Do this before you get up and go to the toilet or have a drink of water.

  4. Read the temperature after a 10 minutes.

  5. Repeat for at least 3 days at the same time in the morning.

If menstruating do the test on your 2nd, 3rd and 4th day of menstruation.  This is because body temperature rises after ovulation.
